Common questions
Short answers to what people ask most.
- Is it free?
- Yes. Comparisons, project checks and alerts are free. The GitHub app and CI reviews are free while in beta.
- Does DepDelta see my code?
- Not on the website: a project check keeps only the dependency list. From CI, only the changed manifests and the places your code uses a changed API are sent. The GitHub app reads code in memory for the usage check and keeps the lines it found for a day.
- Why is a verdict Unknown?
- Some releases in the range publish no notes, or haven't been read yet. Check their commits, which the page links, before you upgrade.
- Why Review needed when nothing broke?
- Something deserves a look: a deprecation, a changed default, or a major version with thin notes.
- A package is missing.
- Search for it by its registry name. If the registry has it, DepDelta adds it when someone opens it.
- Is there a public API?
- Not a documented one. Use briefs, the RSS feeds on Following, the MCP server or the depdelta command.
- Can I get webhooks?
- Not yet. Email digests, instant alerts and RSS are there today.
